These are the newest dogs coming into rescue. Please be sure to download and submit an application if you are interested in adopting one of these dogs or getting more information as it becomes available...

AUGUST 2010 UPDATE:

What a busy season this continues to be! Lots of wonderful dogs have been placed...and here are the new ones waiting for that special family, that special ‘forever’ home. All dogs are neutered, with current vaccinations and microchipped.

Dogs Waiting Now...

If you’re interested, please apply—or update your existing application and let us know what dog you’re interested in. We have photos on nearly all! Email rescue@malamuterescue.co.uk and specify which dog, or dogs, you think are appropriate for you, and ask any questions you have.

Click here to visit a Picasa photo album... Sorry, not all dogs are in this album yet...but will be shortly. Note that some dogs have placements pending or are in trial placements; they may be included in the photo album but not available.

< “TIA”, bitch, 2 years, West Midlands

Tia is currently in boarding kennels with a very well established Malamute owner.  Tia is wary of strangers however once she gets to know that person, she is quite a loving dog.  Again, she is one of the dogs that fits into the 'lost soul' section. Tia is looking for a matter of fact, calm sensible owner and may need some ongoing work. However, the potential is definitely there if someone will give Tia the chance to show all the good she has to offer.

< “ZORRO”, Male, 16 months, W Yorks
Young, energetic and bouncy—with very few manners at the moment—but this is one lovable dog! There is a good dog in there, we feel, and with the right training and family he will develop very nicely.  Zorro would love to be homed to a family with an active lifestyle as he would love to focus some of his energy on activities out and about. He would make a great working dog with the right direction.

< “STORM”, Male, 4 years, W Midlands
Storm is a VERY handsome, boy, very well bred (though no KC papers are available) and is looking for strong leadership in an home with large dog experience, preferably Northern breeds. We’re told he gets along well with bitches. He’d be the perfect companion for the out-and-about worker and has lived with older children; placement with experienced teens would work. This is a large, loving and affectionate dog who loves long walks, the occasional swim and being a cherished and valued pack member under the right pack leader. Is that you?

< “MIAH”, Bitch, 2 years, W Yorks

Miah will need regular training in the right home. The home should be a quiet and calm environment with someone experienced in Malamutes and who likes a challenge. Miah seems to have lost her faith in human kind and can take a little time to get to know someone. She longs for a calm handler with a strong and confident manner—”calm-assertive” is the way to be with this girl. Are you someone who is patient and  who will take the time to observe Miah in order to get to know her and to get the best from her? She’s looking for that special placement and really doesn’t want to be let down again.

< “JAY”, Dog, 1 years, Gloucs  (NEW)

This is a spoilt brat who came from a home with little time for him and no experience in setting boundaries. We believe it’s nothing that some time, a firm hand, some clear pack leadership and knowledge and experience of the breed can’t sort out in short order. Not recommended for a home with young children at this time. Mature households with Malamute or Husky etc experience only.

< “MANNY”, Male, 10 months, location to be advised (TRIAL PLACEMENT)
Manny is going to make someone a lovely dog! He’s KC registered and coming into rescue shortly, no fault of his own, from a single mum/small child household where he simply didn’t get the pack leadership and boundary-setting he needed. Manny gets along very well with other dogs and people and would be an excellent working prospect. He’s got some food behaviours that will need work, he needs some dietary control (or more exercise) and recommended for older children only. An experienced Malamute or Husky (or perhaps Rottweiler, etc) home is preferred.

< “MAC”, Male, 6  years, W Yorks (TRIAL PLACEMENT)

Much happier now is coat is sorted and its growing back, Mac had to be fully shaved due to lack of care before he came under rescue. He is a stunning dog in full coat! If you like your Malamutes big and with lots of coat, this is the dog for you. Mac does like to grump and try to throw his weight about but we love him because he knows what 'No' means if applied firmly and fairly so he at least receptive to commands. We have lots of history on this dog and he’s come back into rescue only because of his owner’s military service.
