Text Box: Are You Considering Adoption of
An Alaskan Malamute in 2012?
[Scroll down for application.]
This is a good time! If you’re investigating, or have taken the decision to apply to adopt of one of our Alaskan Malamutes, here is a brief summary of some of the things you need to consider.
You’ll find full explanations on the Rescue Process and FAQs page so please be sure to check out the details that apply to you.
If you have young children and/or cats, it doesn’t mean that we can’t place a dog with you but it does mean that it may take more time and require some patience and careful screening.
We do not place Malamutes in households where there are children under five years of age. And, because Malamutes have a high prey drive, there is no guarantee that a dog who accepted a cat in its former home (and “pack”) is necessarily going to accept your cat, or cats, in your home.
We have resources and volunteers to help with the transition. When you’ve considered all the options and concluded that you’re ready to apply, please use the link below to download an application and email it to rescue@malamuterescue.org.uk

Text Box: Do You Have an Alaskan Malamute
And Need Support or Rehoming?
[Scroll down for application.]
NOTE: Rehome requests were very heavy throughout 2011 due to a variety of factors, including the current economic climate. Please be aware that there may be a waiting list.
It’s a fact that most people who contact AMCUK Rescue would rather NOT rehome their beloved pets. The just don’t know there are options and that they’re not alone. We can help!
If you’re facing a decision that might include requesting a rehome, but wish you didn’t have to, please get in touch to speak with a volunteer and discuss the options. Don’t wait. Every day counts.
If you need help and advice, please leave a message on our message phone (07969-627 963) and ask to speak to a rescue coordinator.
If, ultimately, you do take the decision to request a rehome, you should prepare yourself and your dog by taking the following steps, in addition to being able to provide a full history:
The dog must be neutered.
The dog must be KC registered and you should have the original certificate.
Vaccinations must be current.

Mark Your Diaries for the

AMCUK Fun Days 2012—UK and Now in Scotland, too!

Historically,  the AMCUK has organised an AMCUK Rescue Fun Day in aid of AMCUK Rescue each year...every event has been a rousing success but, since they’re generally held in a central UK location, it’s often difficult for our Northern contingent to attend. So...this year there will be TWO of these great events!

If you’ve never been to an AMCUK Fun Day, well, you don’t know what you’ve been missing! It’s a great family day out—with the dogs, of course, any breed—and all are welcome to come and join the fun and support a worthy cause.

And one will be the first-ever to be held in Scotland, on Saturday April 7 2012 at Strathclyde Country Park. Organiser Carol Ewart, our Scottish Rescue Coordinator, and her team of helpers have a great day lined up.

Here’s a list to whet you (and your dogs’) appetites for the day. Who wouldn’t want to come along for all this?

· Weight pull — have a go!

· Novelty dog show — always a favourite!

· Fancy dress — come on, don’t be shy!

· Grooming Demonstration — all the must-knows.

· Rescue Parade — honouring our special friends.

· Clicker and General Obedience training

· Dog Scootering — have a go and you’ll be hooked!

· Working equipment — scooters, harnesses, rigs and more

· Backpacking With Your Dog - have a go (the dogs love it!)

· Flyball, Canicross Fun Run...and Agility, too!

· Questions and answers....and much much more!

Not in Scotland but want to mark your calendar? Great! Then turn to May and write in 27 May 2012 at Tomlins, Leicestershire.

Want more information on either event? Simply email events@malamuterescue.org.uk and ask away!

We hope to see you there on Saturday April 7 (Scotland) or Saturday 27 May 2010 (Leicestershire). Or come along to both!
